Baylee Reller of NuCrew Joins the Clean Drinking Movement!
Hi, Baylee here!
I am a Registered Dietitian with a MS in clinical nutrition and the CEO of NuCrew, aka my private practice I started right out of college. I grew up outside of St. Louis, Missouri and spent part of my college years in Iowa City, IA (GO HAWKS). I originally became interested in dietetics after discovering a dairy allergy at 18 years old. Since this diagnosis, it has been really interesting to see how much food can affect our bodies.
While in school, I was working to niche down into what kind of clients I wanted to take on. Allergies? Gut Health? Pediatrics? Weight loss? There are so many ventures within dietetics. Eventually, I felt gravitated towards weight loss. Here’s the kicker though, I wanted to create a practice that weight loss wasn’t how fast you lose pounds, focused on calorie counting, giving a list of “no” foods, or something that would pile onto the stress that we all face in our life already. With my clients, it’s about using the guidelines I provide then tweaking them to work with your lifestyle. When you work with me it’s going to change how you view weight loss, or better yet fat loss. It is no longer something you’re cycling on and off throughout the year. It's not a miserable period of your life. It’s going to be learning how your body works, how food affects your body, and what you can do to support it rather than fight against it.
With this being said, I am also a realist. We are adults, we enjoy Sunday fundays, lake weekends, and nights out and most of the time this is accompanied by alcoholic drinks. Is alcohol providing health benefits? No. But if you’re going to include alcohol, let’s drink better than a sugar loaded cocktail. Make the best choice. Cue my finding of Volley Tequila Seltzers. While most seltzers are low in sugar, you don’t always get to see what’s actually in it. What I love about Volley seltzers is that you can see what exactly is in them and you get to choose to drink better by knowing exactly what’s in your drink and the quality of the ingredients.
You do not need to be all or nothing during your health journey. In fact, I encourage you to give yourself flexibility if you want your wins to last. Have your fun and reach your health goals, even with weight loss!
